JMS Dev Lab was founded by John Moore, and it comes from an unusual mix of experience: enterprise software engineering and actually running a small business.
John began in enterprise technology at Sun Microsystems after studying at University College Cork. He then spent years running Moores Jewellers, a multi-location jewellery business in Cork — living the daily reality of stock, staff, customers, and a patchwork of software that was never built for how the business actually worked.
That's the gap JMS Dev Lab exists to close: the engineering background to build software properly, and the operator's understanding of what a real small business actually needs. Our first app, JewelryStudioManager, gave independent jewellers a purpose-built CRM. StaffHub brought structured training and team communication to Shopify retailers who needed more than a scheduling tool. More apps followed across retail, profit, cashflow, and beyond.
That same approach now extends beyond our own products. Businesses come to us with problems off-the-shelf software can't solve, and we build custom solutions — bespoke web apps, Shopify integrations, and internal tools — designed around how they actually work.

We're small and focused, based in Cork, Ireland (EU-based and GDPR compliant). We don't try to build everything for everyone. We go deep — learning specific industries and building software that fits, whether that's a product on the Shopify App Store or a custom tool built directly for a client.
