SmartCash: Cashflow Management for Shopify Stores
The Problem
Most Shopify store owners can tell you their revenue. Very few can tell you their actual cash position, their runway, or whether they can afford to place that next inventory order. The financial side of running a store is often a black box — money comes in, money goes out, and at the end of the month you hope there's something left.
The tools that exist for financial management are either full accounting platforms (overkill for most store owners) or basic spreadsheet templates that require hours of manual data entry every week.
Why We Built It
We kept hearing the same frustrations from Shopify merchants: "I don't know if I'm actually profitable," "Month-end accounting takes forever," "I don't know how long my cash will last," and "I'm making decisions based on gut feeling."
SmartCash was built to bridge the gap between "I have transactions" and "I can inspect my cash position." It does not replace your accountant, bookkeeping system, or bank balance. It gives you a structured view of eligible Shopify payments and refunds alongside the cash items you record.
What It Does
SmartCash combines connected Shopify data with the cash items you record:
- Executive dashboard — Your cash position, revenue trends, expenses, and runway at a glance. Open the app and know where you stand in seconds.
- Shopify payment sync — Eligible fully captured order payments and refund updates are queued automatically, with periodic reconciliation for recent eligible history.
- Method-labelled forecasting — Monthly trend extrapolation is used until enough history exists; with at least 20 monthly periods SmartCash attempts an automatically selected ARIMA model and shows a 95% prediction range only when that model is fitted.
- What-if scenarios — Thinking about hiring someone? Launching a marketing campaign? Test the financial impact before you commit.
- 9 financial report types — Report availability depends on plan and permissions, with supported PDF and CSV downloads.
- Multi-store support — Run multiple Shopify stores? See them all in one place, or drill down into each individually.
Forecasting That Names Its Method
SmartCash does not label every projection as ARIMA. It starts with a simple monthly trend method. Once at least 20 monthly periods are available, it attempts automatic ARIMA selection. The screen names the method actually used, and it withholds confidence and backtest claims when they have not been established.
The what-if tools let you model changes against the branch data and forecast baseline, but their output remains a scenario rather than a promise.
Who It's For
Small business owners and Shopify merchants who want a clearer cashflow view without turning SmartCash into their bank feed, bookkeeping system, or accountant.
SmartCash is available as a standalone cashflow web app — 14-day free trial, then paid from $9.99/mo. Connected Shopify stores can sync eligible payment and refund updates.
